George Usher has been a fixture on the NY scene since the early 80’s,
when his powerpop band, the Decoys, were mainstays of the CBGB/village clubs.

While putting in stints with local legends, Beat Rodeo, the Bongos, and the Schramms, Usher formed House Of Usher and the George Usher Group, releasing 9 well-received albums (including 2 collaborations with fellow New York songwriter, Edward Rogers) between 1990 and 2009.

Some of the albums, like “Neptune” and “Miracle School” were only released in Europe. Others, including “Dutch April,” “Days of Plenty” and “Yours And Not Yours,” were released in the U.S. by Parasol Records, a small independent label in Illinois. The two Edward Rogers collaborations (“Sunday Fables” and “You Haven’t Been Where I’ve Been”) were also released on independent labels and under Edward’s name, belying the fact that they were the work of both Rogers and Usher.

Now, Strothard Bulldog Productions is pleased to announce the release of a 2 CD, 43 song compilation drawing from all 9 George Usher releases:

Included are House of Usher’s seminal recording of “River To River,” (Richard Barone, The Bongos) and Usher’s powerpop version of his own, “Not The Tremblin’ Kind,” (Laura Cantrell), neither of which has been released in the states before.

It’s a 2 CD cascading, career defining collection of melodic powerpop, guitar driven folk-rock and lush chamber pop covering 20 years of making music on the New York scene.
